Dr. Sayegh joined the EVMS faculty in 1984 after completion of her residency in OB/GYN at Cornell Medical Center in New York City. She received her medical degree from the University of Virginia. Dr. Sayegh was the first Fellow in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at EVMS, graduating with this specialty training in 1988. Since that time, Dr. Sayegh’s main academic interests have been in resident and medical student education. She has earned “Teacher of the Year” awards on several occasions for these efforts. Dr. Sayegh also developed a perinatal center at a nearby hospital on the Peninsula in the early 1990s which eventually merged with the EVMS MFM Division in 1999. She assumed the role of Clerkship Director for the third-year medical students' OB/GYN rotation at EVMS in January 2006 and is the recent recipient of an Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO)/Solvay Educational Scholarship Development Program to enhance skills and knowledge in medical student education starting in 2007. Her clinical interests include maternal hypertensive and autoimmune disorders as well as diabetes in pregnancy. Dr. Sayegh is a Senior Member of the American Institute in Medicine (AIUM) and has expertise in prenatal diagnosis and ultrasonography. She is also a reviewer for the AIUM ultrasound accreditation process and was recently certified in Nuchal Translucency screening. Dr. Sayegh is board-certified in both OB/GYN and MFM. She is an active member of the American College of OB/GYN, Society of MFM, AIUM, APGO and the Medical Society of Virginia. Dr. Sayegh also has a busy clinical practice at Hofheimer Hall in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, she is the editor of the bi-monthly Maternal-Fetal Newsletter. |
