Margarita de Veciana, MS, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. de Veciana is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is the Director of the “Diabetes in Pregnancy Program.” She is board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as in the subspecialty of Maternal-Fetal Medicine. Dr. de Veciana obtained a master's degree in Human Biology at Stanford University and subsequently trained at Cornell University Medical College in New York where she received her MD degree.

She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California at Irvine in 1992 and remained there for her fellowship training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. She joined the faculty of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of OB/GYN at EVMS in 1994.

Dr. de Veciana's research interests are diverse and include medical complications during pregnancy (diabetes, thromboembolic and autoimmune disorders) as well as antenatal fetal heart rate testing. She currently has two ongoing randomized controlled trials in progress and multiple publications to her credit.
